Phil Gets an OC Register Smack Down
May 25, 2010—Tax Fraud Phil Liberatore misled voters when he claimed he had the endorsement of the LA County GOP Party, the OC Register reports today.
"The chairman of the Los Angeles County Republican Party is Jane Barnett," said California GOP Chairman Ron Nehring to the Register. "Any claim of anyone else to the contrary is false."
Tax Fraud Phil is claiming a guy by the name of Robert Vaughn is the chairman; and Phil's so called endorsement came from him.
The Register did some digging and found back in 2009 Robert Vaughn ran for LA GOP chairman and lost handedly to Jane Barnett. But taking a play from Phil’s playbook, he sued.
Tax Fraud Phil has been involved in more than 75 lawsuits in the past couple of years, mostly involving malpractice and shady business deals. More recently, he admitted more than 800 of his tax clients were audited by the IRS. Phil owns a tax business in La Mirada.
Phil also claimed he had the endorsement of the founding pastor of Calvary Chapel, which also proved to be made up by his campaign.

LA GOP to Tax Fraud Phil: Stop Lying, We Don’t Endorse You!
May 21, 2010—Tax Fraud Phil Liberatore, the guy running against Gary, is up to his old tricks again. This time he’s claiming the chairman of the Los Angeles County Republican Party has endorsed him—a total, flat out lie. (But what else would you expect from a tax fraud?)
Jane Barnett, the REAL chair of the Los Angeles County Republican Party, sent a letter to Tax Fraud Phil telling him he’s a fraud and to stop tarnishing the party’s name. (We say “real” because in his mailing, Phil made up a name claiming this imaginary person is chairman of the party.)
The GOP committee has contacted their attorney to look into possible legal action against Tax Fraud Phil, who’s no stranger to the courtroom.
Tax Fraud Phil has been before a judge or sued more than 75 times and the IRS recently audited more than 800 of his tax clients. Learn more: Case Against Phil.
This is the second time in less than a week that Tax Fraud Phil has falsely claimed a high profile endorsement. Earlier he claimed he had the support of the founding pastor of Calvary Chapel, which also proved to be fabricated.

CAUGHT: Liberatore Not Really Endorsed by Religious Leader
May 18, 2010—Phil Liberatore, the guy running against Congressman Miller, has been implying in his campaign literature and sparsely attended events that the founding pastor of Calvary Chapel has endorsed his campaign. This is not true.
Several of Gary’s supporters have contacted Pastor Chuck Smith for clarification. Today, Pastor Smith released the following statement:
“It has come to my attention that recently it has been stated that I have endorsed a candidate for the upcoming GOP nomination for the 42nd Congressional District. This is not the case, while I have expressed my admiration for Christians who desire to enter into Public Service, it is not my intent to endorse any particular candidate.”
Congressman Miller is a longtime member of Calvary Chapel Golden Springs and has the support of all the major pro-life and pro-family organizations. For more information, see Gary’s full list of Endorsements.

The Obamacare Bailout
May 17, 2010—Nancy Pelosi, the Democrats’ top leader in the House, told a group of artists in Washington, DC to quit their day jobs because Obamacare will provide:
“We see it as an entrepreneurial bill, a bill that says to someone, if you want to be creative and be a musician or whatever, you can leave your work, focus on your talent, your skill, your passion, your aspirations because you will have health care.”
Is this how you want your tax dollars spent? Congressman Miller adamantly fought against Obamacare. Learn more: Summary of Cost and Implementation.

Case Against “Tax Fraud Phil”
May 11, 2010--Congressman Miller’s primary opponent held a press conference today in front of Gary’s government office complaining about the “Tax Fraud Phil” signs going up in the area.
The “Tax Fraud Phil” sign is to alert the public that Phil Liberatore is “engaged in numerous illegal practices with regard to preparation of tax returns for clients,” according to court documents. It’s estimated his tax fraud scheme costs taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars a year.
Cruising local court records, Phil has been involved in more than 75 lawsuits in the past couple of years, many involving malpractice against his clients and shady business deals.

Gary’s Schedule Monday, May 10 to Saturday, May 15
Congressman Miller is in Washington, DC this week. He’s meeting with several local California realtors to discuss the California housing crisis, police officers from the Chino Police Department (May 15 is National Peace Officers’ Day), Whittier Mayor Pro Tem Cathy Warner, local members from pro-Second Amendment organization Safari Club International, and the founders of Capitol Ministries.
The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to take up several minor bills and a new spending bill that authorizes $85.6 billion over five years for various science and technology programs. Congressman Miller is planning to oppose the measure, citing its high cost.
Also this week, Congressman Miller is formally demanding the Interior Department allow the U.S. Border Patrol access to Interior Department land along the U.S./Mexico border. President Obama’s Interior secretary has prohibited Homeland Security agents from patrolling Interior lands—in a sense allowing open access to illegals. Earlier this year, an illegal immigrant killed a U.S. rancher after passing through Interior Dept property.
President Obama: No U.S. Flag in Haiti Relief
May 5, 2010—Shortly after a devastating earthquake rocked Haiti, dozens of foreign nations set up relief centers to help suffering Haitians and rebuild the country’s infrastructure. The United States—by far—has the greatest presence, but to everyday Haitians they have no idea we’re helping.
President Obama has forbid U.S. personnel on the ground and all U.S. instillations in Haiti from displaying the U.S. flag. An act Congressman Miller finds appalling.
According to the Obama administration, displaying the Stars and Stripes could lead some to believe the United States has taken over the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere.
“We are not here as an occupation force, but as an international partner committed to supporting the government of Haiti on the road to recovery.”
It’s too bad President Obama views the United States flag not as a beacon of hope and pride—but as a symbol of military occupation and wrongdoing.
Today, the United States has more than 12,000 relief workers in Haiti and has pledged more than $2 billion. It has also forgiven the nation of all its debts owed to the United States.
More than a dozen countries have set up shop in Haiti—including colonial occupiers France and Britain—and all of them, minus the United States, proudly display their national flags.
Weekly Poll Roundup
May 3, 2010-- Every week, Congressman Miller reviews recent polls of interest.
Arizona vs. the Illegals. Don’t let this weekend’s pro-illegal immigration marches fool you—most Americans support Arizona’s tough new stance on illegal immigration. A new Gallup poll shows 51 percent of Americans that know about the law support it while only 39 percent oppose. Congressman Miller fully supports the new Arizona law. (1,013 adults; margin of error +/- 3.1%)
Truth in Advertising. General Motors’ recent PR campaign hyping that it paid back taxpayers in full for their government bailout seems to be fooling some Americans: 7 percent believe GM has fully paid taxpayers; 17 percent say most of it; 57 percent say only some of it; and 13 percent say none. The truth: Of the $64.5 billion taxpayers gave GM (including its financial unit), only $6.7 billion has been repaid. Congressman Miller voted against the automaker's bailout. (Pew Research; 1,008 adults; margin of error +/- 3.1%)
Change the Change. 56 percent of registered voters say President Obama's policies are driving the United States in the wrong direction while 41 percent say they're moving us in the right direction. Interesting footnote: Most of the polling respondents identify themselves as Democrat. (Research 2000; 1,200 adults; margin of error +/- 2.8%)
